Yes Anonymous...I totally agree.

It makes me sick that the Mormon people are so ok to look over these kind of events that were lead by the leaders of their church.

It happened. It's hideous. It's defended by modern Mormons, in spite of their "church" being nothing but a GIGANTIC lie!! They're DYING in their sins, yet they deny everything that shows proof! Dear Lord, may the new DNA evidence show them the way OUT of their deceit and into the light of God's Truth!

Hello Mr. Hoffman,
I just read the article by Donald Schweitzer at Samuel the Utahnite's website.

I am more and more amazed how unscrupulous you are to deceive people who are LDS to convert from their sect to yours.

As the article points out, Chuck Smith's empire is no less a financial enterprise than Mormon Inc. . He may not have malls, but he took over many radio stations, part of them commercial ones.

He pays his family with church tithing. I assume that you are a full tith payer, Mr. Hoffman, right?

I find your attempt disgusting and hideous, to trick Mormons who already were deceived into their cult, and thus Chuck Smith can obtain more tithing-payers and can expand his enterprise, errm, I mean, God's kingdom.

Even if you delete articles which criticize Chuck Smith and his sectarian Calvary Chapel movement from your blog, or ban people from your forum who hold opposing views, you cannot oppress the truth, and the truth shall make us free.
The censorship you perform is another proof that you are no less a fanatic cult member than LDS members. The LDS church hides her history, you hide the hideous financial issues of Calvary Satellite Network, Chuck Smith's false prophecies and his authoritarian church organization (aka "theocracy").

Fortunately, most readers and listeners were not deceived by you. That is why, Samuel has much more listeners and gets letters of thanks every day, while you only earn derision in your attempt to convert Mormons to Calvary Inc$.

Anyway, don't think that you will ever succeed in deluding people into your cult. The truth will prevail, and the truth will set people free, not only from Mormonism, but also from Calvary Chapel and all other sects!!!

And maybe one day you too will see the light of truth, you will destroy the bonds this sect has put you in, and will break free at last...
(John 8:36)

Let's pray for our Brother Eric, that he may see the light of truth.

Eric, unless you leave your own cult, you will never be successful in converting Mormons, for only if you are worthy will God stand at your side and support you, and he will only regard you as worthy if you preach his gospel, not the false gospel of Chuck Smith, his empire, his megachurches, his satellite network and all the other monetary donations he takes for his private use.

May the Lord set you free, Eric.

Daniel,
I have a few questions for you before I explain my reasons for deleting comments. First off, you used verses from the Bible. Are you a believer in God’s word? If so, what church are you attending and may I get their contact information? Secondly, do you actually think that Calvary is a network set up like the Mormon church? My tithes don’t go to Chuck Smith nor his church in Costa Mesa. They go to the church which is pastored by Joe McCormick.

Let me explain myself. I have been called a coward, a deceiver, a person with double standards, dishonest, deceitful….you name it. But what I find interesting is that none of these people (including you) will share with me your real identity, none of these people will make a phone call and share their thoughts with me over the phone, not even an email!! Some of these people have been caught red handed for having multiple identities and pretending to be other people. So make all the assumptions and empty straw man arguments you want. It seems that someone who was any of these things that I have been called, would not try to make a willing effort to communicate with these people. Try to get a Mormon to share with you his contentious agendas towards people who have witnessed the truth to them. Most LDS run and hide. I debated Jason Bosarge who is LDS and I commend him for his efforts to stand up and voice what he believes. Will you do the same?

I deleted comments because they are fruitless and dishonest in the commenter’s intent. I have no problem admitting that they are some bad things that happen in Calvary churches. But what your religious mentality does not understand is that Calvary is not an isolated group that one must be baptized into. There is salvation in Jesus only….not Calvary, not Twin Lakes Baptist church, not Shadow Mtn. church in San Diego. But Jesus alone. All of these churches I just mentioned are solid Bible teaching churches and if I was to live near one I fellowship with the body and worship the only true and living God. I would continue to be a witness to the Mormon people. Nothing would change. The ultimate reason you have found fault with me is my love for Christ and speaking the truth of His word boldly and in love. No one likes to hear that if you do not believe Jesus you will face eternal judgment. But it’s what God’s word has said and if you think differently then you are the one who needs to be shown the truth and set free. Free from what though? Jesus was not speaking about cults. He was speaking about sin. Read the entire passage and in its context.

“Am I you enemy because I have told you the truth?” -Galatians 4:16

Eric,
why do you enumerate anything any Mormon has done wrong in the course of history?

I thought it isn't about our righteousness, but about Christ's righteousness.

However, you leave exactly the opposite impression.

LDS member Mr. XY, on this and that date, did this and that sin.
LDS member Mrs. AB, on this and that date, did this and that sin.
Yadiyadiyada, its only about the worthiness of some LDS members.

Yet you are so biased, Eric.
All Christians have done wrong in the course of history.

Let's take the 30-years war in Europe. Catholics fought against Protestants, and millions of people died, approximately one third of all europe.

So, if Mormons killed a few hundred people in their dark times, how about protestantism?
Thousands of witches were burnt in the name of Martin Luther, whose bible you praise to be the word of God.
Millions of people died because they differed in their doctine over some useless wafer from the person who slit his/her throat.

Where is our righteousness?
Where is YOUR righteousness?
The worthiness of your church has been mocked in many posts on your blog.

Chuck's vast satellite network,
Chuck's distribution of donations to other family members, Chuck's false prophecies, Chuck making bucks by selling CDs, videos, books.

"Walking in Christ's righteousness, not my own" is the slogan of your website, yet you act exactly the opposite.
Judging people according to their deeds, seeing little mistakes in your brother, while overseeing your own big ones, all these are things Jesus opposed in the bible.

Eric, you have become a bigot Pharisee. You have lost a perspective of reality.

While the LDS church made and makes mistakes, you are searching for every hair in the soup, yet, when it comes to CC, you swallow camels without even giving any notice.

Eric, please return to reality!

Don't judge a church according to anything any member did at some given time in history.
For like you judge, you will be judged, and this is what currently happens at your blog.

People raise questions about YOUR church, YOUR righteousness.
And of course, you avoid that topic, for it could shed a bad light on your, pardon me, useless ministry.

Eric, if you would just understand what the bible really means.
You only follow the dead carcasse of a Jesus, not a living Jesus.
For a living Jesus leads to meekness, not to judgementalism.
It leads to seeing one's own mistakes, not the others' mistakes.
"How can I become a better person?"
Not
"How can I make everyone else better by converting them to my denomination?"

Eric, start walking in Jesus' righteousness, not in your Pharisaic version of the new testament.

Quincy.

Quincy-

The very argument that you have leveled against Eric, judgment, has been held up by you as a massive mirror of double standards.

The typical "judge not, lest ye be judged" tome of the LDS is a mis-application of what Jesus said.

Luke 6:37
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

That was a warning not to be too harsh on people about their shortcomings, or the same standard yo use will be used against you... AND apply the same grace that Jesus gave to us, to others. THAT is the message. It is not a blanket condemnation of believers in Christ using discernment to JUDGE truth from lies.

Quite contrary to your "hands off" view of Christiandom, the Bible emplors believers to use judgment *as the rule* not as the exception!

1 Thessalonians 5:
21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
22 Abstain from every form of evil.

Would testing be judging? Hmm.

John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

John 12:48 "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him -- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day."

Jesus warned us of false teachers. How are we to discern false from true teaching Quincy? Judgment! You need to understand that the standard that you are holding against Eric is not Biblical.

Is Reverend Moon true? Judgment.

Are the Scientologists true? Judgment.

Are the Jehovah's Witnesses true? Judgment.

Was Joseph Smith a true prophet? Judgment.

Your argument is fallacious and falls flat on its face the second you accuse Eric of being judgmental, because you too judge him.

Look for truth, hold fast to that which is good (1 Thes 5:21). JUDGE, don't FEEL, because the heart is deceitful above all things -- Jeremiah 17:9.

Hello Eric,
I also have a question for your podcast concerning Chuck Smith, and I again have written it in the form of a limerick:

When Eighty-One came to an end,
Chuck Smith to the Lord prayers sent:
"Thine Son is my fear,
for his coming is near!"

Were his prophecies seriously meant?

(And here I suggest what happened when Chuck Smith prayed thus:)

When Chuck to God raised his concern,
the Devil shouted: "Lo!
Instead of Jesus Christ's return
I send you Eric Ho."

I wish you success at your podcast.

Eric,
somehow, your podcast, forum and blog have become a dwellingplace for strange people.

You dialogue with poets, buddhists, people who already belong to your denomination. What's the point in that? Somehow you seem to lack focus on the right people, focus on the right topics, focus on the right way to do things.

Do you think it's worth continuing this work, if this is the result?
Fruitless dialogue, people from all strata of society mocking you, only a few friends (like Brian or your wife) backing up your opinion, no progress, not convincing anyone...

Of course, it is easy to judge but difficult to setup a good ministry, but I doubt that in this way there will be any success in the near or far future.

Maybe you should take a look at other, more successful sites, or, if you cannot come up with any genuine things, support other sites instead of keeping up your own one.

Well, only my thoughts on the topic, don't bother too much about them.

Hey Paul,
The ministry I have created is not a popularity contest. I would expect the heavy attacks to come in like this because I speak truth.
This is recorded in the bible in the gospel of John 15:18-25

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.”

I don’t really share much of the successes that has gone on with our ministry. Maybe I should. Do you think this would help? We get lots of prayer requests and LDS who ask several questions on why the church has covered certain facts that encompass Mormonism. We get lots of questions from Christians that are asking how to answer certain questions that Mormons bring up. But like I said, it’s not a popularity contest.
My wife and Brian are part of this ministry, there fore will defend claims made by certain people. I sometimes let my flesh get the best of me and respond to certain critics when I should just ignore them. Brian and my wife are much better at this than I am. Like the comment previous to yours...what should I say or do? Nothing! They are not willing to dialogue. Does this answer any of your questions Paul? Let me know if there id anything else I can help you understand.
Every ministry has to start somewhere...right?
Grace and Peace be with you...

Hmm Eric, I got two comments to your reply to Paul:

1. You said:

The problem with this statement is that LDS missionaries think the same. Whenever Mishs' get treated in a bad way (doors banged in their face, insulting remarks, etc.), they will think "We expect these heavy attacs, because we promote the truth, we promote the Word of God." They get treated as bad as you, maybe even worse, because their proselytizing is more penetrating than your online proselytizing.

2. We get lots of prayer requests and LDS who ask several questions on why the church has covered certain facts that encompass Mormonism. We get lots of questions from Christians that are asking how to answer certain questions that Mormons bring up. But like I said, it’s not a popularity contest.

No, but if you would promote only God's truth, he would endow you with more success than you have.
It is also a question of diligence and effort. I'll give you one example. I live in Germany, which is not a major proselytizing country for the LDS church. Nevertheless, last month alone I ran across some missionaries twice, in two different cities, while they were on the street tracting (on a Christmas market and downtown).
They give all their efforts for their cause. If the Lord was not the head of their church, why does he allow such a church to grow?

I think ministries are a popularity contest, because unpopular churches cannot save anyone! You admitted that you converted no LDS to your church. Consequently, you didn't rescue any soul, which is a bad resume to draw, isn't it?
On the other hand, the LDS church gains more and more members every year. Even if the grows slows down at the moment, they still gain new members.

So, why does God help the ungodly churches, while he doesn't help
your ministry?
Just wondering...

Or did God or one of his angels tell you anything about me?

1) Are you willing to call me and dialogue on the phone with me?

Eric,

1) Are you willing to call me and dialogue on the phone with me?
You don't know what international calls cost, do you?

2) Are you LDS? you seem to take a stand for the LDS Church.

No, I am not. It is interesting that on the one hand you like to classify other people, so that you can condemn them. On the other hand, you don't like to take a stand about your own church.
One time, you advertise for Joe Mc Cormick and his church which is "so biblical", one time you ignore the false prophecies of the founder of your church, Chuck Smith.
By the way, did you know that Chuck Smith thinks Catholicism is a part of the body of Christ?
This is quite different from your condemning views, isn't it?

Christian H.

Christian,
You're right. International calls are expensive. So why don’t you just let me call you. We can discuss all things related to Calvary, Chuck Smith, blanket condemnation, the rapture, post tribulation vs. pre tribulation, 5 point Calvinism...you name it. I can understand you not wanting to put your number on here. So you can email it to me. What do you say?

God Bless my friend…
-Eric
